Luxury fashion house Chanel has signed actress Whitney Peak as the new face of its Coco Mademoiselle fragrance—making Peak the first Black face of the brand’s signature fragrance.

Peak, known for her roles in the HBO Max revival of Gossip Girl, the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Hocus Pocus 2, has strong ties with Chanel, having acted as a brand ambassador for the brand’s U.S. market in 2021, before becoming a muse of the 22 handbag campaign last year. Now, the 20-year old is excited to continue developing her relationship with the French fashion house on this latest endeavor.

Coco Mademoiselle is a bold blend of jasmine, rose, patchouli and vetiver, seasoned with citrus. A crowd pleaser since its arrival in the early 2000’s, “this is that scent you grew up wanting to swipe off your grown up sister’s dressing table,” says the brand.

“There is a mystique, a mystery… and when you have the right fragrance, it gives you an air of confidence,” says Peak. “Coco Chanel is that girl. She is unconventional.”
